May 13 is the Wax Moon. The phases of the Moon
can be seen to reflect the aspects of the Triple God. There are Esbat rituals to celebrate the Lunar
changes in relation to the God and to utilize the distinctive energy that
accompanies each phase. Most
Practitioners are familiar with the Esbats performed at the Full Moon, honoring
the God as Warrior and Father, and at the New Moon, honoring the God as Sage
and Darkness.
The waxing phase is a time for growth. It is a time to plant; literally and
symbolically. Magic done during this time culminates on the full moon. This phase is conducive for creativity because
of the high energy and clarity of vision it brings. It is also conducive for
teaching. The energy of the full moon is
intense. It is a time for sending forth
intentions because of the high-powered energy that can propel them to manifest.
The larger the Moon gets, the more
powerfully you will feel the Gods energy.
The Flower
Moon, also known as the Planting Moon, is a time of health, love, romance and
wisdom in May. In most areas, flowers
are abundant everywhere during this time.
Plan a ritual to reaffirm your goals.
It is also a great time to rekindle the romantic spark and passion in a
relationship.
This is May, the time of
opening, the time of blossoming. Set up your outdoor alter and with a basket of
cut flowers, walk the perimeter (deosil) of your circle, placing flowers at
intervals along the floor. When you
arrive back where you started, say:
With these gifts from the Mother,
And the magic of the SÃdhe,
I pass from one realm to another,
Sacred this space, I decree.
Face each direction as you speak, and then light a candle. For the Goddess and God, face the altar and recite:
I am the radiant King of the Heavens, flooding the Earth with
warmth and encouraging the hidden seed of creation to burst forth
into manifestation. I lift my shining spear to light the lives of
all beings and daily pour forth my gold upon the Earth, putting to
flight the powers of darkness.
I am
master of the beasts wild and free. I run with the swift stag
and soar as a sacred falcon against the shimmering sky. The
ancient woods and wild places emanate my powers, and the birds of
the air sing of my sanctity.

I am
also the last harvest, offering up grain and fruits beneath
the sickle of time so that all may be nourished. For without
planting, there can be no harvest; without winter, no spring.

Worship
me as the thousand-named Sun of creation, the spirit of the
horned stag in the wild, the endless harvest. See in the yearly
cycle of festivals, my birth, death and rebirth - and know that
such is the destiny of all creation.

Continuing on with this month's energy focus it is time to continue on with the idea of blooming and becoming something. Sit comfortably with a blue stone. Focus on it. Fall into deep meditation. What have you found this year on your Path? What do you hope to find? Look and listen.
Lord of All, I thank you for the gift of mystery that
you bestow upon the world.
Use your usual method for
grounding energy and close. Extinguish any
candles respectively.
Some people have preferences of which moon cycle they
like best so experiment to find out which ones you like best.
